While working cams, touched a connector and got gauge sweeps. Huh?

Using my superior super technical troubleshooting mad skilz, I do believe I found the problem?

This connector plugs into Brodie's ignition relay...

Copper bleeds green. Corrosion is the only thing from making it a dead short.. Why some of those under tank connectors are not waterproof who knows. THEY should be.

Mad skills indeed.

No dumbass It's supposed to look that way..

If you want to find the real problem just strip a known "hot" wire and a ground, then plug them into an extension cord an plug it in.

Make sure you do it in that order or you could get a shock.

Slocum told me about that kinda fix. Thank him.

So, did the insulation burn off? I get the problem with corrosion of the metal conductors, but I don't understand why the insulation is missing.

'Cos the corrosion on the contacts was a high resistance so created a lot of heat which gets the wires hot which burns the plastic insulation. Copper is a very good conductor of heat as well as electricity.

Why the heck didn't that blow a fuse? You said you got gauge sweeps so that tells me there was a pretty heavy draw.

Probably caused by some leftover darkside germs from Brodie. Everybody know if you use a car tire you're gonna go up in flames.

I aint no Germ, Im Irish 🍀

I would suggest you perform a wee bit of wire loom surgery and bring more wire out of the main harness so you can get rid of the damaged strands.

Also, Eastern Beaver can help you out on the connector front.
