How do you guys keep the frame sliders from getting loose , as on my 07 they keep getting loose & the bike starts to vibrate. I`m ready to take them off & go back to not having them.

Do your sliders have a metal sleeve inside, or are they just the delrin material.

Delrin is soft enough to compress under the bolt tension, and as it compresses, the bolt gets loose, without actually moving, just because the material under it has "shrunk" enough to release pressure. Those sliders with metal sleeves seem to hold bolt tension better.

Loctite doesn't help in that situation, because the bolt isn't backing out, it's the soft material under it yielding and reshaping under pressure, which releases the bolt tension.

I wouldn't loctite an engine mount bolt myself, anyway.

K. I stand corrected.

I'm not too old to larn up new ways a thinkin'!

Fact remains, though, if his sliders are compressing, settling under the compression of the bolt, then they mounts could be loosening without the bolt backing out.

The problem with using Loctite on non-sleeved sliders is that, while the bolt may not come loose from the threads in the engine block, the correct torque on the bolts won't be maintained if the delrin slider is compressing. Sure, the bolt isn't gonna fall out....it's glued in....but the torque on the motor mount goes away.

See the problem?

Well i checked & there is a metal sleeve pressed in the bushings (i`m guessing i bought the right one`s then) I guess using a thread locker would help out. I have used for years Ford blue thread locking compound (friend works for ford & i got it for free) would that do ??? Or should i just buy some locktite

Sleeved is GOOD!

And use RED thread locker. That way, if you ever need to pull the bolts, it gives you an excuse to buy an acetylene torch!

You can NEVER have too many toys in the toolbox!

Um, he's kidding. Red is PERMANENT!!! Use blue.

The torch suggestion is good, though. Not for the bolts, because you can't get the torch on the bolt without burning your sliders down, but you could take it to RH's face and have a good time. :bleh:
