Sorry folks, but being on layoff and having to find a few side jobs to make ends meet, has slowed my time at the shop to work on this project, but I am planning on putting some time in on it this weekend. I have it leaded and will be leveling the body solder off,and putting Evercoat metal based filler on it this weekend. I will get some pics of the unfinished leading job thru the putty stage for you.Stick with me ,I haven't forgot about it. JS

Thanks for the update - now get to the getting!

Today i finally had time to do some work on the tank. I finished the solder grinding /leveling, and repressure tested. I had a couple of very small pinholes ,so I resoldered and the next test came out good. So I moved on to the 33 dollar a quart Evercoat metal filled filler. I opened the quart up to find that either it was old or had been cold,as it had a lot of chunks in it that I could not get to mix up , but being the rough coat ,where 95% wil be sanded off ,I mixed it up and put it on. well, before I spread it on ,I new that would be enough for today ,because the time was mid afternoon, and the wine and beer was begging to be let out of the fridge . here are some pics ,and hopefully I will get some skimcoat mud this week and it will be into the sealing /painting stage.

It looks better with every step! Not counting that first picture. Good job. 8 1/2 should get you 300-350 miles.

I agree the 1st pic is ugly. That is the raw body solder that was soldered on every sean . The 2nd and 3rd pics are after sanding/grinding the solder smooth, and the last pic is the raw bondo that was f@cked up,but as of today ,that was sanded,I dimpled some high spots down ,and laid the 2nd coat of bondo on.Hopefully that will be leveled out tommorrow. It gets closer everyday now.JS
