Mine just arrived!!!

It's really only 124 pages...but it is still a great resource for ride suggestions. We did 82 and 84 in

NM this weekend...many miles of great sharp twisties.

It contains 126 Byways, covering 44 states, broken into nine geographic areas across the U.S.

My question is this...

Who did Texas piss off (or not pay) to not have a single byway listed in the brochure?

Nothing...no Big Bend country...no Hill Country...etc. What's up with that.

Thx. Just ordered mine too. Maybe it will arrive in time for Xmas and give me somethig else to do during th cold winter months in NE OH

Ah but they do have....... odot!

****! no mention of Owosso either? WTF.

BTW what are you doing with that mag anyways Michael?? They ain't no naked jungle women or animals in there for ya to rub one off to

:jester:

They are no longer sending out the National Geographics book. They've resorted to some DOT brochure now. The Nat Geo version had 8 pages for Texas

Yep, that's what just arrived here, too. Too bad it wasn't the other one.

Mine's a relatively short paperback version too. Its a very nice brochure, and on the long side for a brochure, but its not the book that early orderers got.

I recieved the short version to... Kind of a let down but good info anyway...

All you early people got a sweet deal! The rest of us just got a good deal... You cant beat free!!!

:)

That must explain why I got a definite brochure that does not even list the road names on the map. That's ok if it is a major road... but if it isn't you're SOL. I figured that there must be another resource in the pamphlet that would give this info, but there is not.

Not really complaining... but was hopeful that this would be an actual source for rides. I doubt that I'll even look at the pamphlet again. I'm definitely disappointed.

Oh well...

...I'll wait for mine but not expect much.

That being the case, my usual cross country planning resources consist of:

This Forum ...threads and questions asked of the touring type guys of their favorite 2 laners.

motorcycleroadsus website (or sumpin like dat)

State Gazetteers

MS S&T

Rand McNally Atlas

MadMaps

I'll keep that in mind if I ever ride X-country. I seem stuck to the SE states (sometimes northestern states)... which it turns out, isn't such a bad thing. As far as the Byway book... I have no doubt that w/ state maps in hand, I can do a much better job of finding byways (or just plain good roads to ride) I wish that when I got mine, they were still giving the National Geographic book.
