Leaving on a ride Tuesday and plan on going thru Burns Oregon to Frenchglen Oregon via Hwy 205 on my way to the Shasta /Trinity vicinity. It looks like from my research that its over two hundred miles plus between gas stations at Burns and Lakeveiw Oregon .

Good for you, -nice spot on planet earth.

It is 250miles from Burns to Lakeview -although you can get gas a bit before Lakeview which shaves about 11miles if you're real desperate. 205 is one of the few roads in Orygun where you can ride faster than 35mph without getting thrown in jail.

**BUT** the smart thing to do is to get gas in Denio -and spend a little time enjoying that interesting spot. Since the owner died, the likelihood of gas is actually much more reliable. The seasoned rider always carries their number in his tankbag, as, if they don't have gas it is a long walk: 775-941-0175 -call ahead to be certain -and check hours if you're traveling odd hours.

I won't spoil all the frenchglen fun, ..but here is the merchantile. The school is an odd site as well.

The Hotel is very groovy and worth a stop -many folks come to spend the night and eat as they serve awesome dinners. Problem is, often it is phaggy bird watchers so the evening conversation is likely about what kind of birds they shot ....they shoot them with cameras not real guns so pretty boring stories.

on 140 You'll go through one of my favorite villages: Adel: (the store most likely won't be open though)

Picture%20119.jpg

BTW: 140 is a road that is often overlooked so kind of a hidden gem ...and a very cool road. On the west side you likely will see snow in the hills by the primitive ski facility.

some great unique scenery on 140

BTW Denio:

The population has been stuck on 47 for many years now -how does that happen you ask?

Well, whenever a baby is born, the father instantly leaves town .....

You'll see some good interesting stuff, nice job on your route selection. If you have any questions, give a holler.

Those posts on ADV rider are 6years old ...and back then Denio was pretty iff'y for gas. about 3years ago the owner died, I happened to be there two days after and the family didn't know what to do ...I figured it would only get worse. Not sure if new owners came in or what, but since then the gas has been very dependable ...pretty much can count on it. But, I'd still keep their number and call.

Ya, be sure to have a milkshake if they're open. I believe the fuel and store available are much more dependable in recent years. I'll be very curious of your report -please get all the details on this place -all year? always fuel? hours? ....yada yada. My luck there has not been good, but it's been a while and I believe new owners(?)

I had forgotten or didn't realize they had rooms .....hmmmm, what a perfect place to go and hide from society for a bit. If you see a Nevada bike out front it's likely me :)

What is this new generation coming to?

On route 205 I'm typically about 28mpg, without aux fuel i'd never make burns to Lakeview

Will report what I find in Denio… Going to make the run if have siphon gas from a bird watcher’s Prius. I tend to watch the speed closer when on a long haul and may get somewhat better mileage, but from my past experiences with eastern Oregon rides that may not be possible.

Info on hgwy 140, please...

My range is about 220 miles if I can keep the speed down.
220miles/6.5gallons = 34 mpg :excl:

What is this new generation coming to?
That's about what I'm getting too, but I don't ever run all 6.5 gallons out of it .. I tend to gas about at 5 gal's (170 miles or so .. when I'm down to one bar)

Keep in mind Oregon has some of the highest speeding fines in the nation.

If you are on 140 heading for Lakeview watch out for wild Burros. Sometimes they are all over the road and they don't get out of the way. 140 is good fun and really fast. There is a Pacific Pride card lock station at Adell.

Frenchglen Store is open and has fuel cash only (looks to be a fairly new a pump and above ground tank) Store hours were as posted 9:30 am opening with no closing time every day? The Fields Store was hopping also had fuel. Link Denio station was open and had fuel seemed like a tenuous business model at best. Adel Station 33 miles outside lovely Lakeview is open. With a crude hand painted sign stating a ten-dollar charge for after hour’s fuel no hours posted cash only. New homemade camera mount…
