Congratulations, you've earned the deer icon in you signature line...

Welcome to the 'slayed a deer and never fell down' club!

Seems motorcycle on deer collisions are a pretty common occurrence. Thank God I spend most of my time in LA traffic, where things are safe!

Cargers are up there, but animals are the most unpredictable thing we have to deal with. A number of years ago, Larry Grodsky the writer of the "Stayn' Safe" column for Rider magazine died by deer strike. The thing is, he mentioned in the past that if he were to die on a MC it would be an animal strike.

Glad you were luckier than he. Mc's are replaceable.

Personally I need to find a "dog strike" icon.

That makes my shoulder hurt just thinking about it. I destroyed a '14 ES I loved by striking two mammals myself last year. Another '14 or maybe a '16 will be in my future.

Glad you're OK.

Glad you are OK. The bike can be repaired or replaced. Damned deer. Can't they just stay in the woods or look both ways before crossing? I've had some close calls with the forest rats, but haven't hit one yet. Not looking forward to it either. Did you have any bodily damage at all?

Glad you're ok, kudos! Now, call up the dept. of highways and tell them to move the deer crossing sign somewhere else so you'll be safe to ride the area! True story, a lady did that one time, she said it was irresponsible of the highway authorities to post deer crossing signs and let them cross in a highly traveled area. Ha!

The question has been asked several times, just to clarify I have no bodily injuries at all, just my pride, have many years experience behind me and I still feel I was very lucky, I could only imagine my guardian angle this morning totally saying "O" **** here we go again!!!

Glad you are OK. Also glad you managed to stay up right.

Wishing you good insurance karma and a cool new bike! :)

Glad your angel came through for you, Rich... just don't test her too much. Bikes can be replaced... people not so much.

Were you on Federal land? If so, then you can be charged with littering, hunting without a license, hunting out of season, hunting in a restricted area, animal abuse, animal cruelty, failure to render first aid, failure to request emergency medical services and unlawful discharge of a motorcycle. If you were on Montana or Wyoming land, then the LEO probably asked if he could have some of the meat.

Glad you are unscathed. I'd do all that I could to get the bike deemed a total loss. Should be passing thru the park on April 21st after our annual anniversary stay at Chico Hot Springs. I'll look for you at the General Store. I'll ask for the Bambi Slayer.

No was not on federal land, was about 12 miles out of Gardner Mt heading to work in Bozeman Mt, since I moved out here, I excepted a position with Car quest in Bozeman as asst. General manager, have been commuting every day, have been riding during dry weather.

It's amazing how the FJR knocked out the back straps of that poor deer, still need to clean the deer juice off my riding suit. When I was picking up broken pieces of my bike off the road I rolled the deer over and found the front portion of my fender in bedded in the deer. I'll need to figure out how to post pitchers I've got some good ones.
