4 Sports bikes exit an offramp from the highway, and some dumb bitch just pulls out in front of them.

The driver attempted to U-turn on a road with a 2 foot median in the middle of the road.

My friend saw the whole thing, said there really wasn't much they could have done to avoid the collision. It all happened in about 2 seconds. The riders were at speed exiting on the ramp, probably about 70-80 mph....

Rider killed upon impact. Driver of the car fled on foot, probably wasn't even supposed to be driving....

Sorry to bring bad news on a monday morning but,

Be safe out there.

Man. That is just so uncool..... and the bitch didn't own the van, and apparently got away (for now).

I'm sure some will point out that taking an exit ramp at 80mph is probably ill-advised, but who knows how much that played into this situation.... sounds like it would have still been bad at 50mph....

That's some tough business for your friend; hope he is able to shake off any nightmares he may have in the near future.

Sorry to hear about it. And RIP.
but that is what happens when you treat streets as a track course.
They shouldn't have been going that fast, but they were coming off the highway and decelerating.

Like Warchild said, even at 50, it still would have been bad, but who's knows... Still sucks...

The way I read it it sounded to me like they were merging into the street coming off the ramp. which at that point one should have enough time to slow down. I truly feel sorry for those guys.

At 50 it might still be bad, but at 50 you are more likely to stop sooner then at 70 or even 80. The faster you go the longer it takes you to stop and it is progressively longer.

Lot of people using the off and on ramps as practice runs and to scrub off those chicken strips. What they fail to realize is when they do this they are most of the time at the full lean and have nothing left for the off ****. Nothing can be done for this guy, but hopefully the next one will read it and hopefully it will register that it is cheaper and safer to do it at the track.

bad news. sorry to hear it.

unfortunately (or not), like was mentioned, the accident investigators will probably check the local speed limit to see if 70-80 was the posted limit for the highway and the exit ramp.

based on not being there and just reading the description, it sure sounds like she is at fault and then fled the scene of a fatal accident (a felony in many places). but as angry as i'd be, i don't know if i'd be surprised if they tried to lay blame on the riders for their speed and it being 9pm (dusk or around dark in some places this time of year).

hmmm, I'm kinda bored. Think I'll go cruising with my friend who has an outstanding felony warrant, drive with reckless abandon and just leave if something bad goes down. What are you doing today? [/sarcasm]

Sometimes the wrong person dies, like this time. To quote one of the better known members, "Stupid should hurt."

:grrr:

RIP to the rider. The Lord is with you.

They updated the article. The driver was arrested, and is being charged.

Ride safe everyone!
