Front Brake Shudder

  Felt just like ABS except I don't have any ABS on my 03 w 44,000km. Was taking an ERC today and during the first emergency braking exercises my front brake stated to chatter under hard braking. Did it 7- 8 times in a row and then chatter seemed to decrease each time I braked until it was no longer noticable. Caused quite a sensation for onlookers.

So this first happened in May, now again this morning under easy braking towards the end.

Since the May incident, I have changed the front SS lines, pads/w shims, brake fluid and ridden some 5000km. Also replaced the fork springs & oil. Front Avon has 10,000km and doesn't seem too cupped.

Anyway dealer is looking at it today as he changes out my tires. Will probably tell me that my rotors are warped or something expensive or maybe the new front tire will cure the issue. I had to go to Pilot Roads as you can't easily get Avons in Canada at this time of the year.

Your description sounds exactly like what I was/am experiencing. I replaced all of the parts you mentioned and ALSO the rotors to no avail. The only thing left is the calipers and I don't plan on replacing them.

It really takes away a lot of the fun factor of the bike because I never know what will happen each time I grab the brakes.
