Does anyone know if there's any reason that I couldn't remove the Front Cowling Assembly (the headlight bay) without removing the lowers first?

Its been a while since I did this and I can't remember if anything interferes or not. I know that the Front Cowling assembly can be removed all at once by disconnecting the headlights, disconnecting the glovebox connector, taking off the windshield, dash panels, mirrors and removing the four screws that hold it to the frame.

I know that, in the service manual, the lowers are removed before the cowling but I'm not sure it is necessary.

Thanks,

Jim

Where the lowers meet under the bike there is a screw. But why take a chance in scratching anything? The lowers are super easy to remove/install. Less mass to work with means a little better control IMHO.
