I need the help of this forum. I have all of the fairing off except for the front fairing above and below the headlights. There's a phillips head screw right behind the Yamaha symbol between the headlights. There is no way I can see to remove it without removing the headlights with the front fairing.

Please help me out before I break something.

I need to repair more tabs from my encounter with a deer last summer.

Thanks in advance,

Welllll..... steel yourself for the Bad News.......

Sorry, 'bro, you can *NOT* remove this Philips head screw without removing the headlamp assembly off of the bike. :(

Unless, perhaps, you have a long, flexible philips head driver... even if you do, re-inserting/tightening it down will be next to impossible....

Sorry, dobias.... but you really want to take the effort to do this right.

Dale,

I saw the photo of your bike when you had stripped it prior to mounting the HID bulbs. Did you remove the headlight assembly and front fairing, then separate them then reinstall the headlight assembly, etc., etc.?

Man, I'll need a long winter to finish this project.

Thanks for the confirmation (even if I was hoping for a miracle).

The only reason I had the headlight assembly off for the HID install was to better access that area in-between the two headlight housings for ballast/ignitor placement, as seen below:
