Front Rotor Problem

FWIW - You can nab yourself a brand new rotor from Zanotti for just $114 (plus shipping): clicky.

Beats the hell out of the $177 list price.

and the rotor bolts are $2.53 there vs. a list of $2.75.

FWIW, I re-use rotor bolts as long as they are not getting rounded. And all I use is blue loctite - same as comes already on the new ones.

I looked for that last night in the service manual because I remembered somebody saying never reuse them, but there's no such requirement stated. As a matter of fact, one of the rotor adjustments is to remove, rotate by one bolt hole, and reinstall. No mention of new bolts being required.

Obviously, if you've destroyed a bolt getting it out, made the hex shape a little oblong . . . .

If you can get them out without heat they'd probably be OK.

Any important fasteners (and I'd consider rotor bolts in that category) that I ever hit with a torch gets replaced. Heating will change the temper of the bolt.

Hey... you'd get mad too if someone put a flame to your head. Let's not even get started about heating nuts

Good point, I wasn't even considering the heat bit . . .
