Had the same prob. Dealer says I must have been running underinflated. They recommended 42 in front, I was running 36. I guess i'll find out this time around. It was a first for me too.

Wore my original set of Z6's out at 6800 miles. Front was toast and the back looked *good*. After careful inspection of the rear tire it was almost on cord. If you search, there are several threads specifically addressing Z6's going from *good* to cord within a couple hundred miles. Be careful with the back tire, looks are deceiving...YMMV

I have owned several sets on other bikes and the rears are not dead yet...
Someone remind that I know precisely JACK! LOL. Probably a bad thing to ask for on this website.

UPS was good to me today.

I had a little over 2K on my front and had her into the dealer for a check up and they said I needed new tires. Could not believe it as I to have never before gone through a front before a back. Called Yamaha and got blown off, called Bridgestone and they said the bike is to heavy for the tires but that is what Yamaha wanted. I am now running Avon's so far no problems

How many miles on the Avons?

Interesting? I just complained to the dealer about my front BT021 showing tread wear bars at 3400kms! I asked if they considered this mileage normal? The center of the tire was quite pronounced and the sides were sheared at a fairly acute angle? Bad description but... The service manager commented about another customer having similar tire wear? Then I am being told it could be my riding style? Braking in corners? I want tire rep to look at tire because I think it is defective! The dealer did me the "service" of selling me a front at their cost and the rear which didn't need replacing at their "employee discount"! I wanted to get tires other than Bridgestone's and didn't want mismatched tires? I now have PR2's and will observe their wear very carefully? I check pressure everytime I ride with a digital air gauge that I believe is fairly accurate? I maintain front at 39 and rear at 42. I am 220 lbs and 59 years old with a lot of riding years behind me! I don't pretend to be a professional rider of any sort but I have had CBRXX, and GSXR 1100 prior to my last bike which was a VStrom 1000. If my riding style was less than perfect it might have been the poor feedback I was getting from the BT021's? My 2cents

I have about 2K on them and so far I have had no issues, the day I got them installed I headed out on a 1700 mile ride with the 1st 200 plus in a good rain. I ran about 75 mph the tires handled great! As for the cornering I did they felt better than the BT's
