I am going to sell my 1979 Honda CX500 custom. If you know anyone looking for a collector bike that can be a daily rider, please let them know. The CX500 was a revolution in motorcycle technology and was the 1st production bike sold that was shaft drive, liquid-cooled and had alloy wheels. It is a very smooth riding motorcycle They were so well made that there are many still in operation. I am the 2nd owner, have owned it for 3 years. It has 19,600 miles on it currently & has always been garaged. Original paint and stickers in remarkable condition. Polished engine covers & carbs, new tires, brakes, front suspension, brakes, new factory crash bars and original adjustable backrest, new battery and wired for a battery tender. I added saddlebags and it has a cover, 2 windshields and 2 seats. It has aftermarket mirrors on it but I have 2 sets of originals. The bike looks and rides like it is a 2005 and is a GREAT bike for the wife. I am asking $2400 for the whole package.

The bike out for a ride in February 2012

This brings back great memories for me. It was my first road bike and the one I road tested on. I enjoyed seeing one again. Best of luck selling this true classic!

I had a 78 CX500 up until the point where little brass colored metal flakes started showing up in the motor oil. That happens just before the engine blows up completely.

It was a blast to ride though, and worth every penny of the $600 I spent on it.

Hopeless IBR entrant for someone!

Looks great even if that isn't on your plans.

I sold it for $2300 2 weeks ago. It was a beauty
Congrats! I'm still casually looking for a cherry 83/84 CX650E. I found one last year with 22Km on it for $1600, but the seller was 150 miles from here and the bike was 300km and we just couldn't get a time for viewing worked out. Stupid if your eager to sell something. Long story short, some guy bought it from his local town and immediately relisted it for $3500!

Can you ever tell the difference in condition based on geography. All the ones up here the cases are all stained and etched. Your's looked showroom.

The hunt continues.

Where is that Big Bend/Southern Colorado ride report. I saw your pics on a FB and it looked like you guys might have froze your nuggets off!
