Function over Form.. Pelican Panniers on an FJR1300

2 years ago my wife and I took off on a one month trip on the FJR. We wanted more storage space than the FJR bags offer. I mounted Givi 45 liter side cases for this trip. Not as aesthetically pleasing as the FJR bags but certainly more functional. One of the reasons I like my R1200GS is that I can use functional top loading side bags and nobody snivels about he aesthetics.

I know Givi made side racks for the Gen 1 but I think HB is the only after market pannier rack for the Gen2. I have had Jesse bags on a GS also. Loved them but am still happy with the Pelican cases.

I did Va. to AK with my then 12 year old son with those cases. I could strap small soft bags on top of the cases to act as arm rests for him and still have access to the contents of the bags.
