What about Drag Coefficient? The FJR has much more drag than the FZ1 Gen2. Again power to weight ratio plus drag coefficient goes to the FZ1.

Yes the FJR has more torque but it also has more weight to push with that torque. What the Lbs of weight per lbs of torque per bike? I would bet the FZ1 is still better. In a straight line mile the FZ1 will cross the line first. Both Gen 1 and Gen 2 over the FJR.

Before you turd burglers jump all over my *** about "then why dont you own and FZ1 then" its because I cant mount a barrett .50cal to the FZ1. The recoil, as slight as it is throws my balance off in a turn. The FJR weight does come in handy when it comes to farkles. :yahoo:

Damn Slappy, forget having a tech day...we need a range day!

(apologies for the thread hijack)

FWIW; I own the Gen1 version of both bikes and speed-wise they are very similar in giddy-up

The FJR has more grunt, the FZ1 more top end.

Handling goes, hands down, to the FZ1

MPG and general comfort, stock for stock, FJR

Wheelies, FZ1 (although it's pretty funny to lob the front end on the FJR as most people don't expect to see that)

The FJR doesn't "feel" fun but that's not to say the fun factor is rated as low....it's heavier so the pilot needs to pay more attention. The fun comes in ripping the twistes and having a few people from your group say "wow, that thing does pretty well for its size, eh?"

They are equal in many respects but starkly differ in others. I could write forever about the similarities and differences of the two but at the end of the day, regardless of machine I choose to ride, I'm smiling ear-to-ear.

Both bikes deliver and kill their respective competition.

Which is faster?

Well, running them both between here and Denver, I'd bet on the FJR. Certainly the FZ1 is quicker though.

Drag coefficient? Maybe if your at Mach 1 plus. Anything below 90MPH is virtually uneffected (Don't claim to know specific facts). Really, I would believe the FZ1 has more drag than the FJR just based on wind flow over the fairing. My opinion, and limited education in aeronautical engineering, The FZ1 isn't near as efficient as the FJR when accelerating...even with the side bags. While cruising at speed...the FJR is much more effecient than the FZ1. Just compare MPG (not totally objective for obvious reasons, but you get the point).
