Galaxy Blue Paint Code

I know this has been covered, asked and answered but couldn't find it. What color have people used to paint the side covers to match the Galaxy Blue?

Also how much did people pay to have them painted or did they do it themselves. I use to paint cars years ago and still have some of the equipment but if not to expensive I would just pay my old boss to do it...

or you can use Toyota's metallic blue paint, and I quote Galxy5

paint is stellar blue pearl metallic '98 toyota 8L7 just had my local paint shop mix up a 1/2 pint for me,, the touch up paint that is offered by colorite is useless,, duplicolor is close but very small amount for mucho dinero,, I got a Preval spray gun www.prevalspraygun.com, 1500 to wet sand , and some polishing compound all for $28 bucks,,,, but never got to use it....mine is now in the shop being repaired from some ass wipe that knocked it over in a parking lot and took off,,,

I have read on other sites that the Colorite is not a good match to the Galaxy blue. This is hearsay, so take it for what it's worth.

A good, solid FJR colormatch is Duplicolor's TYO1612 Toyota Stellar Blue Mettallic(8L7).

Ford Mustang Sonic Blue might be similar to the FJR. An auto body shop painted a Fastbag top case for me using the Ford paint and it was a perfect match. The gentleman who painted it told me later that he thinks he remember it as the Sonic blue, but won't swear to it.

I didn't want to put too much weight on MY own knowledge, so I qualified my statement as 'hearsay.' Certainly it wasn't directed at anyone.

I would go with Duplicolor's Toyota color. It's an excellent match, in my opinion. A good body shop should be capable of fine-tuning the color further to match the FJR.

I want to say thanks for the info here!! I went to a local body shop and had them mix me a qt of 8L7. Took it home prepped and shot a bag, clear coated it and presto new side case. I set the two bags (one I painted one I didn't) side by side in the sun and the color match is spot on. I will get a pic on here soon but got to go to work now.
