I've never been a fan of snopes b/c I have to question why and how they're a viable business. Where do they get their stories? How can they supposedly find the sources when no one else can or does? Who researches? Are they making money off of debunking these types of myths? Maybe they just made up a story that sounded more realistic that answers the mud flap question.

I use Snopes to answer emails from my not-so-cynical family members & friends. I find it's less degrading than my stock answer ("were you always this gullible?") and over time they <GASP> begin to question things themselves.

Well, in some cases, over a very, very loooong time
