OK- the mono jack that's attached to every motorcycle power harness made by Garmin for the 26XX and 27XX series -

IT'S JUST HANGING OUT THERE IN THE WIND!!

I'm installing an N-Line dash, and moving my 2730 to it - the mono jack has nowhere to go, other than swinging in the breeze ....

It's kind of like your appendix.

My question is - has anyone just snipped this sucker off? And if so, were there any detrimental results?

I just folded mine over and taped it good. not a problem with it flapping now. It wierd that they wouldn't make it without as you can now plug in direct.

If you cut it, be sure (and yes, I know you are not a techno-challenged person) the wires in the co-ax don't short.

One would think it is like any other speaker wire and not powered, so it shouldn't matter, as you can plug any headphone, earpiece, etc., into the jack and they work, so it is not Garmin Specific. When its unplugged there is no "loss" in circuitry.

I just snipped mine. An audio jack going to nothing. Not a problem, so far.

Zip tie your appendix to the nearest solid anchor point.

Why don't you want sound from your gps I bought a headset off ebay that works great with my 2720 less than 20 bucks.

Angus, the 2730 has a headset jack for audio - so this cable jack is not used.

My bad at one time i thought there was a power cord that was was just power no audio.

AFter you snip it off and verify that you haven't shorted the conductors to each other, you probably want to seal it off with some silicon or something to keep water from getting in.

I'm using the Touratech hardwire kit, which does not have this lead............problem solved and installation is super neat. All routed through Starrcomm Advance mounted under seat.

Here's the link; https://www.touratech-usa.com/shop/show.lasso?sku=GC12V26

BTW, I didn't use the in-line fuse as it's wired to my Blue Seas block. Good luck.
