Garmin 2820 Streetpilot

Droid X connected to Garmin via Bluetooth

Autocom Super Pro AVI

All audio sources work satisfactorily (phone, Mp3 player, Intercom etc...) and volumes are acceptable. Friday I subscribed to XM radio, connected the hockey puck and got it up and running. I noticed while riding that the XM volume is less than the Mp3 player or the audio book feature, a difference of about 10-20% volume. I moved the Autocom Background Noise Sensor around and might have gotten a bit more volume, but the same differential exists between the Mp3 player and the XM radio. It's not a huge issue, but in order to clearly hear the XM radio, I need to have the windscreen all the way up. With the temps climbing I can't run the windscreen up so when I lower it, the XM is hard to hear, but when I select the Mp3 player, it comes in loud and clear. I've tried switching the Garmin audio from line out to headphones, made sure the volumes for phone, Mp3, XM, etc.. are all set at 100%, but no change in the volume differential. Autocom volume adjustments don't seem to change anything regarding the differential between the Mp3 & XM radio. Any ideas out there why the Garmin doesn't put out the same volume on all sources?

You DO know that you can vary the sound output of the various sources (mp3, Xm, Audiobook) of your 2820 don't you? Get to the volume screen and find the 'advanced' (or something similar) button and it will get you to the proper screen.

Your welcome, and that will be a dollar. :)

Ah' yes, I noted I'd set the volumes of all those at 100%, but no joy. No dollar for you! " Insert Soup Nazi impersonation here." (but thanks for trying) ;)

Then your 2820 must be broke! What are the comparative volume levels without the Autocom in the mix? IOW, with just earbud speakers plugged into the GPS, are the volume levels still mix-matched?

I think you're right! I tried your idea of plugging in headphones directly to the Garmin (bypassing the Autocom) and same results. Weird, every source volume (sub menu) is set to 100%, but still a 20% or so differential between the XM and all the others. Oh well, may have to use the earbud option to get the XM to workable volume levels. Thanks for the input.
