Friends , I have a garmin 396 zumo & tried to use it in my car. The zumo paired with my Kenwood aftermarket stereo -but directions did not come through the speakers in the car . I have the "car " mode on and " media " option checked in the "settings" menu . Is this unit supposed to announce directions through the Bluetooth ?  Any idea's  ?  Thanks in advance  !  Sincerely , [email protected]

mine announces it's sometimes insane directions through my 10S Sena helmet bluetooth, can't imagine it wouldn't send the same info to any bluetooth it was connected to but what do I know. LOL

Do you have the Bluetooth paired as a “headset”? I had to do that to get directions working. I’ve only done it thru a Sena, so YMMV

Like most bluetooth stereos I would assume you have a media button or setting and a bluetooth setting inside there. Those are for music input meaning if you set up your Kenwood so the music from your GPS is feeding your stereo, when directions interrupt the music, you will hear it. Otherwise, if you are listening to the radio, satellite or some other input, I would not think your stereo will switch inputs just for directions.

Switching inputs in any of the stereo consoles in all over our vehicles is a manual process.

Tanks so much guys , I did have it paired as a headset . Tried switching the headset off . Thinking that media was the radio. That didn't work. Does the garmin smart link app. have anything to do with it ? I guess I'll try a few more combinations . Thanks again for your thoughts !
