I have created the route in mapsource and connected my 550, hit transfer/send to device and the download appears to happen....When i disconnect my 550 and look in "Routes" The route that I thought I downloaded is not there. Anyone know how to do this?

Thanks,

Greg////houston,Tx

Did you wait a while before going to routes? After you disconnect the GPS takes a few minutes and then a screen will pop up saying something about managing the file (can't remember what it says, but you have to select something before it is loaded and ready to view the route.) The key is waiting for a bit till the GPS is ready for you to move on to finishing the process.

Exactly correct. Sometimes it takes a few minutes. Especially if you have a card full of MP3s. Those load first. The prompt is "manage new files?"

Alternatively, you can save the file as a .gpx file to the desktop or other place. Then, drag and drop on the SD card, either in or out of the Garmin. If out, install the SD, turn on the Garmin and wait a minute. The prompt will come directly.

MapSucks actually does exactly the same as copying the route file directly, except it creates a file called "temp.gpx" on the 550. The 550 has to go through all its usual startup stuff before it reads that GPX file too. So same-same.

I need to invent a Mac-based GPS. That way, it would just work.

 joke for jeff!

I have the same problem downloading routes from the PC to my Garmin 2730. It will tell me that the download was successful but all I get, in routes, is the name of the route I created, but no route....whats with that??? :glare:

Anyone any clue... why this is happening?

Sorry, I've never used a 2730.

And Scab? That was funny. Touche.

Then it would cost $2000 and you could only use it on an Apple brand motorcycle. :p
Yeah, but then your bike would never crash. ;)
gotta love the Mac's....

Anyone have trouble with the Zumo just shutting down?

Mine just started shutting down right after i turn the bike on or when i turn it on off the bike, it gets to the accept screen and just shuts down...

anyone?

R

As a side not i have just boxed it up and sent it back to garmin for a $100 fix.

There are some issues with the most recent version of MapSucks and GPS firmware. I would start by making 100% certain you have the latest of both MapSource and Firmware on your GPS. Use the Garmin Web Update utility. There were some very recent fixes posted by Garmin to correct exactly the conditions you describe.

I was using Mapsucks ver. 6.13.7 and upgraded?? to ver 6.14.1 and it really sucks. Don't do it. However, I use a 60Cx and nuvi 260W.

No probs with 60Cx works fine as before. 260W has SD slot, I have not been able to make it work. email from Garmin support says I can down load routes etc using the SD but I have not had any luck making it work. Be careful with which map you use - some you need a unit with the 'x'; won't work with a non 'x' unit.

I really can't stand 6.14 and have downgraded back to 6.13.
