Quite a crowd at Abbottsford yesterday and an unexpected reward of bumping into Gary Eagan at Duc's booth. Learned a lot in a good half hour of chatting.., history, philosophy, bike and rider prep..

routes, hazards etc.. He was most generous with his time and honest and to the point with all his answers. Only 1/2 hour of sleep during his trans/Can record run with no coffee or stimulants of any sort (except perhaps for adrenaline spikes at the most numerous sightings of wildlife he has ever seen in one ride).

He asked me to pass on a hearty and respectful hello to Mr. Warchild (whom Gary constantly referred to as Dale). Where do these guys get their focus and energy !?!?

Gary's always been very generous with his time and knowledge -- unless it's rally time and he's got his game face on. Even then he's not a "gamesman". He simply has more important things to consider.

Dale's the same way. Beneath that crusty exterior is a creamy center spiked with razor blades.

Thanks a lot Bounce! Ya've forever gone and ruined how I view His Benevolence - I had thought he put the 'crust' in crustacean, so crusty that he made Barnacle Bill look like a tadpole molly and was second only to King Neptune Himself!

hmmm..., Texas, huh Bounce?

Gary did say that in all his meanderings, the L.E.O.'s coming into and leaving the small Texas towns were the most "bastardly" & merciless of anywhere he's ever ridden. That statement was not accompanied by a grin....

Radar detection....., "don't leave home w/o it!"
