I arrived at the barn yesterday after a 180 mile local ride, and shut the bike down at 3 (heat) bars.

I decided to open the glove box to get my glasses, so I turned the key back on and beside the sound of hearing the guages launch, I heard this long gurgle from the gas tank which was louder than I've heard before? I had filled the tank about 45 miles before returning home. I popped open the tank with the key an no pressure seemed to be built up? What was up with that?

khuna., very common with these bikes when they`re hot. Your gas tank is acting much like a closed kettle on a stove...it`s just relieving pressure through the vent system. On a really hot day, if u look into the tank, it`s often bubbling from the bottom.

Both my FJRs let out a loud gurgle on "key-on". I'm sure it's the fuel pump priming itself. Typically, the longer the bike's been sitting, the longer the gurgle. Ignore it...it's normal.

Did you hold a match over the filler opening and look in reeeeal close to see if maybe there was a stream of bubbles coming up from the bottom?

C
No, I wouldn't want to ignite the Hydrocarbon vapor emitting from the surface of the gas in the tank, when it mixes with the O2 in the air above the filler opening.

What is this? ... an inquiry for a candidate for the Darwin awards?

My 05 gugles on a hot day after parking in my garage. I thought it was the flux capacitor shutting down.

Others have also been fooled. Actually the electronics of the flux capacitor are quite silent, however, depending on what source of carbon you use in the 'Mr. Fusion', certain gaseous gurgles and burps may be heard. :D
