Your info doesn't contain your location. IF you are in The People's Republik of Kalifornia, the tank vent/charcoal cannister are part of the emissions controls and are thus, by law, warrantee items. A few owners of California bikes have had their gas tanks replaced under warranty. You have a trip to your dealer in the near future.I'm still waiting to hear if the dealers are repairing crushed tanks under warranty. Mine is collapsed on the bottom. I haven ot yet taken it to the dealer for repair/replacement, because I don't want the bike down during riding months.
If anyone has approached their dealer about this, please let me know how it went.

I have a NY bike, YES warranty, and a shaky dealer. The dealer whom I bought the bike from changed ownership 3 times in 3 years. I haven't lost more than a 1/2 gallon capacity, so I'm not fussed by it. The bike is due for inspection, so I'm planning a trip into the dealer for that as a benign experience. I'll discuss the tank with them then. At this point, I've done all my own service, and will likely continue to do so for as long as I can.Your info doesn't contain your location. I wouldn't worry about "down-time". If they have to order a tank, the bike is still rideable (if the vent is clean and open) but your gasoline capacity is reduced by the amount crushed in on the bottom. IIRC, FJRob's bike was down to 5.5 ga. while awaiting his new tank.
