After I left the lunch stop at Pine Mountain, I rode to Lockwood Valley by myself. (Didn't you all love that stretch of road from the lunch stop to Lockwood Valley? (Perfect camber for most of the turns back and forth smooooth road). My question is: Out of the 500 that started, how many actually completed the whole, long version, of the ride? Four of us left Pine Mountain in the first group, how many came in the later groups?
Same experience I had, NOT. It was so bad the cockroaches would not stay there. I have a closet that is bigger than those rooms. The towels were thinner than rice paper. The shower/tub was an after thought with a claustrophobic hole cut in the wall to accommodate it. Don't move on the bed or the one step better than a futon bed will shake like a 5.0 earth quake. And don't get me started on the water pressure. It would not cut though a tissue on full blast. But, the company was great and the food was pretty great also.BTW.......that was one of the nicest MOTEL 6's I've ever stayed at....CLEAN and simple was what I expected from a Motel 6...the Big Screen mounted on the wall was a plus, marble look countertops and raised porcelin sink was more stylish than I expected for a Motel 6. Gal told me it was remodeled in 2009.

The Roaches wouldn't want to stay there? So your room was filthy? I would have asked to look at another room, mine was spotless.
You have a closet that's bigger than the motel room?? You must live in a mansion why on earth would you even stay at a Motel 6?
I agree towels were thin but I've never stayed at a "budget" motel and had thick towels either.
I don't know, maybe I lucked out and got a newer remodeled room or something?
I may have a photo or two (hundred)... :lol:i"m so glad there's no pictures! I don't really want to know what I missed!
I made it home about 4:30... decided to hug the coast back up Hwy 1 and really glad I did... 68 degrees, clear skies, fantastic views, and shockingly not a lot of traffic... between the one-lane stoplight at the new bridge they're building all the way to Big Sur, I pretty much had the entire road to myself!! :yahoo:Home! 443 grueling miles on the Wing today. Gayle's single day best and after Pasa Robles it was up to 97 degrees.
We had a great time, I need a cold drink!
So good to see you and Valerie again. Hope we can do this again soon. So many good peeps to talk to..... So little time.....Thanks to all for a great weekend. Sorry to have missed saying goodbyes to the group departing 09:00h this morning from the Holiday Inn. We were across the street visiting with some of the Motel 6 crowd and when we got back you had already gone. Hope to have some pix posted soon.
I was on the radio with Ann and asked if she wanted to pass, and Ann said no, she is going just fine. It was a pleasure meeting you also. Till next time.Wow! What a
Richard did a great job leading the ride, stopping at each turn to collect us stragglers. When we got to Tepusquet(?) Road, I found myself long behind the rider in front but with riders behind me. Oh dear, please pass me, I need to be in the back but they didn't. Credit to ULEWS for giving me plenty of room to figure things out. It was an awesome road. When we got to the end, I had the pleasure of meeting Lewis and Anne who were thankfully ok with the slow Definitely a keeper. .
