I just bought a new pair of Sidi boots and I have a hard time shifting the bike now. Can anybody tell me if you can move the shift lever to help with this or am I just going to have to learn to deal with it.

Thanks for any info.

Below zero and windy again so have plenty of time on my hands while the steaks slow cook on the barbie. Yea, adjust it (assuming you have an A model and inadequate toe clearance under the lever). See the rod connecting the upper shift lever to the engine? Loosen the two 10mm nuts - careful, one's left hand and the other's right hand thread. Look at the exposed threads next to the nut to determine which is which. Rotate the rod to change the distance between the end fittings, and adjust the shifter up a bit. Retighten the nuts, and get me another beer (Kokanee, please).

Last year I purchased my first pair of Sidi Roads - and my first ride was interesting !! Entering the freeway, I tried to upshift, and soon was in the HOV lane in first gear at 70 mph. trying to shift. Hmmmmmmm.......

I changed my foot position a bit, and began carefully shifting as required - a simple change is all it takes. Just some getting used to it.

I didn't need to adjust the shift lever - once I adapted, which only took a short time. I've since put about 30K on the boots/bike, with no shifting problems.

Give yourself a chance to adjust before you mod the bike. JMHO.

Your Sidi's will need some "break in" too. I wouldn't move the shift lever until you've given the boots a dozen or so rides to loosen up a bit. You can also put `em on and do a few deep knee bends to help them loosen up. All together now Jack LaLane style.....uh one, and a two.....and a...... ;) ;)

I had the same experience when I bought new AlpineStar boots a few years back. I didn't touch the lever adjustment, just let the boots break in and adjusted my foot position in the interim. It more a matter of adjusting habits than the hardware. Then again, do what suits ya best.

I got a new pair of Sidis just about a month ago. First ride similar experience with horrible shifting etc. About 50 miles into the ride, I pulled over, took off boot and worked the toe area for a few minutes. Really worked it (like a new baseball glove). Stood with other foot on toe area, mashed, smashed, pushed until leather was a lot more supple. Immeditiately after I could again "feel" the lever on the toe area and shifting probs gone. Also, with more miles the rest of the boot will break in and it makes all the difference. I was a bit disconcerted at first (coming off a pair of boots broken in for over 8 years) but the issue quickly disappeared with a bit of beak in. As others have said, shift lever is easy to adjust but I would hold until boots are more broken in and see how that goes...

I use the alpinstars SVX boot.. I dont have to adjust anything.. i use thie finger clicker button and my boots dont care a bit!

Got some Sidi's for Christmas, same issues with 3rd gear. I thought it was me. Except that I adjusted the shifter just a few MM. No more issues.

Thanks for all the help guys I'll wait a little longer to break in the boots before i move the shifter. I appericate the step by step for the adjustment.

Thanks again, LDR1
