Anyone have an ECU from a scrapped Gen 2 laying around?

Awhile back my recalled ECU died. I replaced it with the pre-recall ECU and all is well, except now I have the "altitude sickness" again, and since I've already been recalled, the only option is to either find a used ECU that's post recall, or buy a new ECU. I'd prefer not to have to spend a ton of $$$ since I just don't have it anymore.

I'd rather not buy from eBay. You never know what you're really getting.

I honestly don't know. I'm thinking it might work ok since it's still the same generation. Only way to know would be to plug it in and try it. According to the chart there's a change to the ABS braking system in '08. Don't know if that's controlled by the ECU or not.

I have one from my '07. This one has been corrected for altitude issue. I replaced it as a matter of troubleshooting an idle problem I'm having (didn't fix it).

Your call - mine is out of a '09 with 42k miles at time of traffic ping-pong. No issues to that point in it's life.

Going with Denver_FJR's ECU since it's the same year as mine. I think that's the safest route since I don't know what "minor" changed were made between the 07 and 09.

Thanks

That makes sense - I haven't run across anyone running an '08-'09 ECU in an earlier bike - probably been done, but I've not talked to anyone first hand to know if there were any issues.

So one could interpret this as Yamaha got it right in 2009...

These ECU part numbers are only for USA.In Europe and i think in Australia the ECU part numbers are different.

For example, for my 04/ABS/USA-03/ABS/Europe,the ECU part numbers are:

USA/04/ABS: 5JW-8591A-31-00

Europe/03/ABS: 5JW-8591A-40-00

Also for France the ECU part numbers are different from the other countries of Europe.
