Is the Gen 3 the same rear sub frame that a Stiffy Kit should be used along with the Givi 357 mount or have they been upgraded from the factory ? I seem to recall that the 357 mounts for the Gen3 are different from the Gen 2. I just purchased a 16es and haven't taken delivery yet ,so I'm just trying to get ahead of the curve on this. Thanks

The same part number is listed for the rear sub-frame for 2012 and 2014 models - same thing. The need for the stiffy kit is less compelling when using the Givi 357 mount. It provides a far better weight distribution than the OEM trunk mount. I'm sure others with more direct knowledge of the specific pros and cons will chime in here. I have the Givi 357 without Garauld's fine accessory. (I assume there are no fitment issues with this mount?)

To clarify just a little bit ,I've owned a 06 since it was new ,and am buying a 16. I know all about the subframe issues on a Gen2, which I currently have a stiffy kit on,along with a 357 mount. I was hoping the factory change something that I wouldn't have to go the same route

Situation is identical...

Sub-frame is the same. I transferred a 357 from my '09 to the new (to me) '15 without any problems. What you're describing is IMO overkill. Use the 357 or a stiffy kit, no need for both.

YMMV

The other side of the coin is that there is no harm caused by using both.

I say go for it! Why not?
