Least expensive solution is dont lock it up. Cautiously test and see if front is still functional, as that is where you really need ABS. The fix has always been replacing the hydraulic assembly, which is nowhere approaching inexpensive

Third owner 05, bought last year. Rear wheel will lock up when brakes applied. ABS light not on. Any inexpensive suggestions?
Sorry about the smart--- comment, but get a can of paint, your color, and paint over the ABS sticker on the fender. If you really want to do it right, paint the four dot's on the front calipers blue.

To test the front wheel ABS, do it carefully on gravel or grass. If you crash it means the ABS doesn't work, so be very careful. {my lawyers told me not to put this part in, so please don't sue me if you crash}

Or you could try cycling the ABS pump when switching the motorcycle on and see what happens.. Do a search, there are threads on where the plug is located and which pins to connect together to do the test.

My 05 went about a year without the rear abs working. I did a couple complete flush of the brake fluids and it magically started working again. Cheap enough and worth a try. Short of that it's replace the metering block which is $$$$$$
