Gen II heat management

I live in Houston and am on my fourth summer with my FJR. I"ve never experienced the kind of heat ya'll are talking about. The temps rise a bit when sitting dead still - but that's no big deal. With or without the PCIII, at any kind of running speed the temp guage is one bar below the middle (okay, I admit I don't remember how many bars it has - but it's below the middle level). And I saw no difference before and after the PCIII.

What heat? They said they "fixed" the 2nd gens. They don't have no heat problems...

I have found the best plan is to keep rolling. Avoid traffic on warmer days and all is tolerable. Get stuck in a series of lights and you'll wish you took the bus.

As an aside, I recently picked up an '01 Trophy 900 in 100% stock trim. Talk about throwing some heat!! It comes blasting out from underneath the tank in a steady stream that roasts the back of your thighs. Puts evenm the 1st Gens to shame in the leg baking capability. I'll be doing some removable heat management field modifcations very soon for summer riding. But all that heat will be quite welcome in another 3-4 months.

Well, I re-checked under the tank and the factory pieces of foam on the side panels. All is good. So I called Dale (Holeshots) who assured me that his system would reduce the heat...now waiting for delivery of headers and pipes!!

Has anyone with a Gen II did this install? Problems with install?

Thanks

Last service, the dealer had misrouted wires UNDER the heatshield...which seemed to change the airflow enough (on the gen2) that it was considerably hotter.

Popped the tank and tbar, rerouted the wires....and my Gen2's comfy again....

Strange how a little change can make such a big difference.

I had a GenI before the present GenII. Like Scooter, I can tell you it was much warmer than my 08. I don't get much heat except down around the ankles now. If it's over 100 it can get a little irratating. Had more of those 100 degree days this year than I'd like. I don't think a Gen II should get extremely hot, like mentioned above, unless something is wrong or a lot of slow stop and go traffic.
