When I took delivery of my bike in March and got it home the driving mode switch would not change modes between S & T when sliding the switch. It would also change modes on its own when starting the bike.

I fixed it a couple weeks after I got the bike, but forgot to post what I found.

I took the switch apart and found the slide plate, which is spring loaded to be in contact with the mating contacts all the time, was not assembled correctly and was cocked. I reseated it properly added some silicone grease and it works perfect now when you slide the switch.

This should have been caught by the dealer during the P D I. It only took 30 min to fix, and while I had the throttle housing apart for the switched, added some extra lube for the throttle cables.

Could have taken it back to the dealer, but they are 100 miles away. It was way easier to just fix it myself.

Just experienced this same symptom. In my case the mode switch was damaged from smacking into my tank bag one too many times. One of the plastic ears on the contact plate was broken off, so there was no pressure against the slider.

I was able to put a very small ty-wrap around the switch to hold the two halves together and still fit everything back together. The individual switches are not order-able separately, so I’d have had to order the right switch assembly, which lists for $160.
