Once in a while, the wild hair wiggles and so after the waggle I find myself rediscovering riding dirt, MX. Only two rides back into it, but I'm hooked, again.

Them FJR's make decent power, but really, most of ya'll have never been on an open class MX bike and experienced full power, light weight, huge brakes, and real suspension, just sayin'.

My ride, a 2001 Yz426 is really a POS by today's 450 standards, but then again it's what I have and the primary purpose is get back in shape, lose a bunch of weight, keep sharp on the dirt thus street side riding skills. I figure the 426 is about 28 pounds heavier than a current 450. Then again, I'm about 35 pounds heavier than I should be, so when I lose the weight I'll then consider a newer ride.

I took a video for all of you street ******* - be sure to hang in there at least until the completion of lap 2...

and yes, I know, the video sucks, but it's all I could do with a hand-held camera...

BTW, the jumps are really bigger than they appear on the video. The tabletop is 90 feet, most doubles are pushing 20 to 40 feet.

Here's a short clip from the rider's perspective approaching the table top :eek:hno-smiley:

Very nice, Don! You've still got the skills, mi Amigo! Do love the sights and sounds of your moto making those berm jumps!
Thanks BeemersDons

Crazy old man.
(How much did you pay that stunt double?)
You gotta ride this bike, Bubba. Otherwise you're just a Bubba-ette.

defiantly a crazy MOFO.......
See ya next week.

R
Defiantly? Yes, definitely!

nice
but obviously it's fake...I didn't hear any ringgggggggggg a dinggggggggggg dingg coming from that bike... :yahoo:
I would love to have a ring-dinger in the collection. Oh, wait I do!

Good stuff DC.
I lived on an IT425 for a couple of years. It was great fun except for a collar bone. Thanks for taking me back to some great times.
You need to get back in the dirt, judging by some of your posts!

Thanks for sharing DC. I remember when I used to do that stuff (on a RM 465) about 25 odd years ago! Be careful out there, healing takes a bit longer now...or so I've heard.

DC very cool. :clapping:

I got the GasGas EC300 out over Thanksgiving and got to take the daughters for a ride where I grew up riding in southern Oregon. My oldest rode with my brother everyday were home visiting. She could get enough of the mountains. I like the dirt, because you don't have to worry about some LEO wanting to give you a speeding ticket.

Big deal, a dirt bike in the dirt. Do that on the FeeJ and I'll be impressed. :p

Nice backyard track Don! We should all have one like that. Thanks for taking us for a ride. ;)

Thanks for sharing the video! D Carver. Looks like a fun track.

We have a great time riding dirt bikes. (Son and Nephews) I don't jump much anymore. I'm afraid of taking a digger...aka soil sample, and snapping bones like rotten twigs. Still, I can manage to ride with a bit of speed to keep the kids insight....everytime I get lapped!!!

Here is a shot of my 15 year old nephew stomping my *** on his new 2010 Honda CRF250R at Hwy 47 MX south of St. Louis. Thats me in the middle...getting ready to eat stone spray sandwich.

Sweet memoriesMy forearms cramped just from watching.

Thanks.
FUZZY BALLS!!!!

The dreaded Arm Pump! Took McGrath out a few years to early.

Man that was a ball Don! The mind is willing but me arms just hate that stuff now.

Back in the day we had four different tracks guys had built around here..No gigantic table tops or jumps but then again until supercross arrived, that stuff wasn't heard of was it?

Did one stadium event back in the 70's @ Pontiac Silverdome.. Scared the hell out me looking at those things back then. Did get to meet DeCoster an Hanna though :)

Thanks old man.

Ahh, the RM465, what a great bike! My bud Matt could make his 465 walk across water. 400 feet of deep pond, no problem! Just wind her up in 4th, hit the water, shfit to 5th and just plane across on the water top. My Xr500 sank like a stone. Twice. <_<

Exactly! That, and you can 'twist the throttle in anger'. I'm looking forward to racing again, I love that feeling of being on the line with 40 bikes knowing only 10 will make it through the first corner clean. That's great fun!

Come on out Blusie, let's play! BTW, I took Wabs around the track a couple of times too.. but KrZy8, yet. The Ultra tried once though, after I was all liquored up, she got stuck on the lip of the table top, fun times.

B - Where is Metcalf? Must be local to you.. How's that CRF running for you? Have you started racing any moto yet? If yes, what class. Are you over 30 yet, young 'en? If so the OTHG welcomes you...

Waaay cool Hawkerplt! Keeping the young by riding with younger riders is very good for you. For example, it keeps you humble. Although I can still out trash-talk them when the bench racing starts! LOL - good luck to your nephews. At least he knows how to keep his elbows up for the foto, unlike me...

Pretty cool, old-bustedup-man! One time about 7 years ago, team Yamaha was actually slated to ride my track just for practice. The team sent a contact person out to look at the track, sign insurance papers, etc. but then backed out once they saw how wimpy my track was... oh well, call me MR. Wimp!

Too much fun! No street-******* on your track (although I heard rumor that Reno John was going to take a lap on his FJR). Still working on my skills but I suspect that I'd need another 50-100yrs of practice to catch you up.

PS That's saying that you're SKILLED, not that you're old.
