Next Saturday morning (27th) my buddy and I will be heading back to the Bay Area from Joshua Tree. We will be cutting westward across (what I'm conveniently calling) L.A. to intersect 101 to Santa Barbara and on home.

MapSource (Garmin) and Google maps give me two different routes. I want to just blast through there on straight freeways with as few transitions as necessary (from freeway to freeway). Can you locals recommend the most direct route please?

Thanks,

JB

I-10 past Yucaipa, and watch for the 210 Fwy. It runs along the base of the hills. Then it's the 134, into the 101 and your headed up the coast.( and right past my house)

I've taken this trip a million times, to and from the soccer fields!

I agree with redtail. The I 10 to the 210 to the 134 into the 101 is the way to go. much of the 210 has a car pool lane. On Saturday morning the 134 to the 101 should be flowing smoothly and the quickest way to transit LA. At peak times rather than transitioning on the 134, I would have stayed on the 210 at Pasadena and taken the 118 to the 23 to the 101. I live at La Canada (near Pasadena and the 210) and it is my recommendation.

More motorcycle stuff than you can safely shake a stick at.

No, I'm not affiliated, just stopped there on my way back to the 210 while heading North in San Berdu, after a weekend in the Coachella Valley near Palm Springs.

...just some of my CO2!

PS. The 210 will get you past LA with the most haste (diamond lane), as has been already mentioned. I recommend the 118 to the 126 as the link from the 210 to the 101.

What he said. This is my commuting route in the morning when I go in to the office.
