UPS says that a winter storm has delayed my shipment. Severe weather conditions they said. So my SR357 was stuck in Sallisaw Oklahoma. It seems to be moving again now.

I figured hell would freeze over before I could afford an FJR, but it happened. Now the whole country is going to freeze over just because I want to install a new top box? It is not fair.

There was a wet, tattered, torn, beat up RevZilla box at my (wife's) house when my son got home from school today. The boy, bless his little heart, drug it into the house for me. He knew I was working a 16 hour day today. I am happy to report that everything seems to be okay with the SR357. Now I just have to find time to install it.

It'll take all of about 15 minutes.

If you don't count going to the hardware store for longer bolts and washers for spacers......

If you bought it new all the hardware comes with it. I put one on my 15 last summer. Simple.

A small few of us posted about it at the time: I did buy it new but that was back when there seemed to be a little slippage with the welding fixture. The angle between the bolt down part under the seat and the rest going aft wasn't (isn't) right. The angle was so severe that I had to ream out holes to get all of the bolts to start loosely before tightening any of them and when I tightened the front ones the rear ones engaged only about 2 turns. I needed nearly 3/8" of spacer aft, not simply an extra washer. So for me and a few others add about an hr and elevated blood pressure to the job.

OTOH I have really good upward support on the bike's tail section.

Nah, yours is normal. As usual in my world, I got unlucky.

You must also factor in:

1. I am VERY lazy.

2. I am clumsy.

3. There is currently a SHAD bracket/reinforcement system on Scar.

4. I am lazy.

My Dear Old Dad and my Mom were at the house about a month before Christmas and Mom demanded I get on the computer Right Now! and order the Givi box. She had her credit card in her hand and her mind made up. I did argue, but we all know we are supposed to listen to our Mom. So, my Christmas present was the V47 Tech.

I was unable to locate the SR357 new anywhere in the US. The SR357 is one popular piece of kit. Honestly, when one does turn up on the forum used there is usually someone who needs a deal more than I do. But I did start getting desperate. I am very happy to have it here now.

Unfortunately, when Dad installed his SR357 I was working straight nights and he was on his own. I gave him the info from this forum about the holes not lining up and the forum's solutions. Since he went into it expecting a problem he was prepared. He made it work.
