Just taking the opportunity to share with anyone "on the edge" about trading to a 2007 from a Gen-I (pre-06), that after riding this week in typically 87F to 93F temps...

I'm glad I sprang for the '07!

It's a much cooler ride for the operator.

...but BOY do those Avon Storms suck! :)

But seriously, if I was even remotely thinking about swapping off my '04, I'd have to take a serious look at the GTR1400 when it hits the streets before I decided on a new FJR. And if it didn't 110% completely sweep me off my feet, I'd get a new, non-AE Feej. It's just THAT damn good a bike!

Other than the heat issue, how would you compare the 07 to the 05? Just curious.

I would say that this thread I posted early-on, still holds very true.

Initial review on 2007

Being a much better educated FJR Farkler than I was with the 05, gave me a much earlier and clearer path for changes.

The best way I know to summarize the 07 versus the 05 is...

* The changes I feel necessary on the 07 can all be purchased. None have to be fabricated.

* In order to achieve the truly smooth power attainable on the Gen-I bikes, a PC-III is necessary on Gen-II, especially the 07.

* You can have greatly improved operator comfort on the 07 versus the 05, better suspension while remaining stock, and IMO an overall superior bike with much less "effort" and just a couple hundred more $$$.

If I lived in a cool climate, I would probably never have traded the 05. But I had put a LOT of work and personal time into insulation changes, shield mods and loads of other mods over a period of almost one year. I'm ahead of the 05 right now in three months.

Hey RadioHowie,

I just bought a 2007 fjr1300 and was gonna wait for the 2008 Kawi Concours (gtr1400 in Europe), BUT the big disapointment(for me)with that bike was the VVT head. Sounds good but it still requires the 6000 mi valve check/adjustment interval just like the zx14........ I like the FJR1300's 26000mi intervals.

Just my take.disappointment

If the Kawasaki GTR1400 uses the engine from the existing new 1400, there will be a lot of people un happy as it is a "bit gutless" down low and midrange .

They keep putting back the release date makes me wonder ,as companies have been working on new models for years generally have just about everything worked out about 6-9 months before the release it.They are generally doing reliabity checks on test bikes like cars in far away places like the outback of Australia ( no press around ), New Zealand as our seasons downunder are opposite to the Northern Hemishere.

Another thing I always become aware of is "too much Hipe " before a release , wether it be a computer, game, movie, whatever, they are generally a dude so they advertise and promote like hell to gett early sales before people find out how bad it is.

New models that keep getting put back generally come on the market with unresolved faults and also undiscovered faults eg cars that you cannot remove spark plugs without removing engines.

I say let it get onto the market and in 18 months you will know if it is a dog, this one smells a bit like one now.I hope I am wrong but I doubt it.

Yep, any bike that they hand you a pretty color brochure on for 18-24 months and still can't say when it will be in, run the other way!

But hey, aren't you guys hijacking my NEPRT heat thread!

:)

How would Jeff know, he had an '05, not one of the fast '03's!
