Decided to change the oil, filter and rear end lube at only 189 miles on my 06. The engine oil still looked pretty good. Not to much "glitter" in the drain pan. -But that rear end drain was black and had a whole lot of metal in it. I am glad i got all that metal out of there, but should i be concerned? Or would this be considered "normal"?

Feedback Appreciated

Not to worry.

This is completely normal for the first couple of rear drive fluid changes on the FJR. The factory rear drive fluid has a lot of moly in it (accounting for the darkness, and the slightly acrid odor).

Your reply confirms my suspicions. Thank you. I will change it again around 1000 miles and check back in.
