I know this was covered long ago, but it does not appear enough archive material has been recovered for the search to come up with anything. (BTW, thanks for the quick recovery Slap, was going through withdrawl....)

Simple question - I want the glove box to open anytime.

I believe I just have to pull off the tupperware and remove the solenoid? :detect:

That is correct. I just pulled the plunger out of the solenoid because I was worried that the solenoid bracket helped support other hardware, but others have reported removing the whole thing with no problems.

When you remove the entire solenoid, does that leave any holes open to the outside, or is the solenoid contained inside or outside the box? Sorry, just haven't paid that much attention... and I'm at my desk. WAY too far away to see my FJR... 12 miles away....

To further muddy the waters on this thread, did this board lose the info relating to disabling the glove box gear interlock? I remember reading awhile back about some owners putting a remote hidden switch, but thought that someone had figured out how to remove the requirement to be in neutral to open it. Might have been lost in the hackfest as I can't seem to find it searching this forum.

Thx,

John

Sounds good, but I want my cake and be able to eat it too! I thought that someone had figured out how to keep the glove box push button lock tied to the ignition, but the neutral requirement removed.

Now that would be cool. I keep a garage door opener in there and it's a hassle to hit N while still trying to carry enough speed to coast up the driveway and not hit the door as it comes up. It can get tricky. That same GDO travels between two vehicles so it needs to stay portable until I spring for a third one and wire it in permanently.
