If I want to use my glove box ANYTIME(bike in gear, engine on or off), do I just unplug the connector or do I remove the solonoid? 05 model

You must remove the solenoid, or it's locked forever and ever. Not a big deal, it's time you started swearing at plastic anyway.

It was kinda' cool to see the power outlet in the glovebox on the '06 at the show. I installed one in the same location with a little domelight some time back so I'd have a way to charge the cell phone. I'm not sure I want the glovebox to be unlocked all the time. I think a key lock would be cool so that you could secure it while out of sight. Anybody done this???

FJR&R,

Sounds like a good idea. You could use the spare lock that comes with the bike. The one intended for the Yamaha trunk. I've removed the solenoid from my glove box and may do just that. Thanks for the idea.

dobias <_<

At least one person has added a discrete button to energize the soleniod so the box can be opened without the need for the key or while in gear. Sounds like a good idea. You could keep a spare key in there just in case... Of course the button would have to be very discrete.
