Hi folks,

This is actually a video of a bicycle coming down the mountain but it sure looks like it is going to be fun on my FJR. The video has everything...twisties, scenery, good music, and even deer running out in front of him!

Enjoy

See that dude resting on the right bout 5min20 into it? That'd be me one minute into trying to climb that motherfucker of a hill.

I do believe that dude was goin over the speed limit a time or two. Should be punished to the full extent of the law. Damn bicylists.

Watch out for the bikes. They don't ride single file and will try to pass you if you get stuck behind a steel coffin! Sand rules!!

That is one of the many great roads along the front range for both motor and pedal power. Some of those roads are Deer Creek Canyon, south and north Turkey Creek Canyon, Bear Creek Canyon, Golden Gate, Coal Creek Canyon, just to name a few. Spent many years riding those roads on my bicycle and now I do them on the motorcycle. But there is something to be said about riding a bicycle down the mountain.

You will definitely want to do Lookout Mtn. But do it the other direction, there are four really good low gear peg scrapers going up. It's a 6 mile or so ride from hwy.6 in Golden to the frontage road along I70. It takes about 35-38 minutes by bicycle. As was mentioned Deer Creek Canyon is awesome especially if you do the High Grade Road cutoff. It's only two miles from my house so I ride it alot. Like FJRcouple stated there are a tremendous number of cyclists here on every road. It makes it hard to corner on weekend rides and pushes cars toward the center. We just have to be careful. Everyone will have a great time!..........Ken.

I am looking at Lookout Mountain Road from my office window right now. I've done that road on motorcycles and bicycles, although the more I ride it on motorcycles, the harder it gets on a bicycle!

Watch out for sand on that ride! When the cars pull out from the turnoffs, they drag soil and sand with them onto the tarmac. It's a long way down if you slide on the sand. Still, it is great fun.

'd like to add some roads in the same vicinity: Golden Gate Canyon Rd. and Coal Creek Canyon Rd. just to the north of Lookout Mtn Rd. Take Golden Gate Canyon Rd. west to the Peak to Peak Highway and go North (right) on Peak to Peak. Watch out for constabulary near Rollinsville, particularly on weekends. Take it all the way to Estes Park and Rocky Mtn. National Park if you want an all say trip or turn off onto Boulder Canyon at Ward or continue north to Big Thompson Canyon Road. All are great rides. Do them on a week day if you can.

If your FJR can do this:

then I'll show you all some great dirt roads off those canyon roads.

If anyone does Peak to Peak as Ron suggested,go to Estes Park, up the hill ,turn right past the Stanley Hotel and down Drake Canyon, through Glen Haven and down the Big Thompson Canyon. It is curvy and beautiful! You then can go over through Horsetooth Reservoir and back through Fort Collins. There are cool roads everywhere.
