While on the road, Mrs. Hoog and I like to try the little Mom 'n Pop places for breakfast. Perkins will do in a pinch, but truckstops aren't out of the question. You never know what it'll be like, but so far we haven't been disappointed too often. Here's a couple that come to mind:
Whenever I'm on the road in our beautiful southeastern states I will always search out a WAFFLE HOUSE. It don't get any better than that.

There's this little spot in So Carolina callel The Lizards Thicket. I hit that place everytime I visit my peeps. Killer catfish, eggs and grits for b'fast. Yeah Babay...

Now I'm hungry.

The Plantation outside of Ft Sill, OK. Steaks the size of a small child and biscuts that weighed roughly a pound each - 'course that was 20 years ago...

Howzabout an Irish Benny from the Kopper Kettle in the ChiTown burbs??? Mmmmm...

Man, lookin' at all this good food here does bring one thing to mind -- We might as well go out and ride fast and hard 'cuse eating like this we ain't gonna live long anyway :haha: (What a way to go!)

Ipswich, MA has some of the best clam shacks in the North East, try the Clam Box on Rt. 1A in Ipswich. Just about any coastal restaurant in Maine will serve you the best cold water lobster you ever had.

Coming south out of Death Valley, I tumbled upon the The Mad Greek's in Baker CA last fall. Highly recommended. The local motels even give you a free complementary breakfast coupon. Delicious for supper and great for a "big" breakfast.

Further west I had a great breakfast at the Grizzly Manor Cafe in Big Bear. Can't beat their breakfasts. I had the HogBoy and out came a platter with eggs etc along with a "side" platter of 5-6 12" pancakes!!! Waitress said I should stick to the SissyBoy breakfast next time!

Pierre.....we eat at Mad Greek at least once a month. Every time we go to Dumont Dunes (which you passed between DV and Baker) OR, if my cholesterol starts slipping to a low number. Which ever comes 1st. Mad Greek deff has killer food. :D

Gleno lucky you, and speaking of Vegas, the French Market Buffet at the Orleans Casino Hotel is an outstanding value ($6-12) for breakfast/supper. The buffet selections are mind boggling...To quote the burp (er blurb)

"The French Market Buffet is The Orlean's all-new action buffet featuring Italian, Mongolian, Barbecue, American, Seafood, Mexican and Chinese cooking, as well as an oversized dessert bar. This all-you-can-eat, every-meal-every-day restaurant is sure to satisfy any appetite. From eggs prepared before your eyes just the way you like them to finger-licking-good house smoked ribs, and scrumptious desserts, it's all here. "

Another worthy mention is the "included" continential breakfast at the Grand Canyon Holiday Inn Express. The place is a madhouse of feeding frenzy fools in the morning but the free buffet is up to the challenge with everything one could wish for and more. The breakfast nearly made up for the price of the rooms!

God I love breakfast....

You are right about food in Vegas, and the prices get near to nil in places. HOWEVER....after seein an old dood sneeze on the peel n eat shrimp one night, I haven't been back to a buffett since.

I'm gettin' the impression that my LDL levels are going to take off like a shuttle launch when I get my 06 -

Hey Gleno - was that a miniature weber grill, or just one really honkin big bug tail?

Gee - maybe Warchild can do a group buy on Lipitor -

I rode with a group out to Branson MO. for our annual get together and someone suggested we stop at this place called Lambert's. This place was packed and the restaurant was huge and they were throwing these huge rolls across the room to anyone who raised their hand. The portions were huge as well, one of the most interesting and entertaining restaurants I have been to. Highly recommend it.

Lambert's
