A friend's wife (one of those cool ones) asked for my help in choosing a bike for her hubby for Father's Day. I've got some ideas of the type and size to look for, as he's a rank beginning rider (considering one of the mid-size standards, used), but it depends so much on what's available right now, naturally. So who around here has had dealings with one of the used bike dealers? (I'm wondering specifically about a dismantler and used bike lot in Rancho.) Not many private party listings locally now. I hear you don't save too much over the cost of new. Your input welcome.

Mike what I found here in the Midwest, small to medium displacement up to 750cc. The dealers can't keep them in stock, demanding list for them and getting it. Small to Medium Used bikes going back five years, if they are worth having are demanding premium pricing, Most I saw where within $1000 of new.

If your friends are financing they will also be hit with some big rates on used, while both Kawasaki and Suzuki are offering some very nice financing on new or never titled bikes.

Thats what I learned after 10 days of ebay, web surfing and beating up on the three volume dealers that are at reasonable distance for me to get to.

Sure your friend couldn't handle 1000cc and up, saw lots of those, all kinds, and the salespeople sure would like to talk to someone who wants one.

Good Luck with your hunt, actually it's going to be more like fishing. going to be a lot of luck involved
