Well the house sold in 2-days on the market at a nice overbid so plans are in motion for the farewell tour sooner than later. I'll fly into Sacramento on 4/19 to prepare for the move and sign some papers. The movers will pack and ship stuff on the 22 -23 and then, I'm free for 3-weeks until May 12 when I must be back in Pittsburgh. So the question is how to make the most of it.

The timing is not great because many of the higher passes will remain closed and too early for the Gathering of the Clans, but with the wimpy western winter, there are good odds of open roads and good times. I'd like to do a few of my favorite rides in CA before heading east. I think my wingman Bugman will be with me most, if not all the way. I'd like to start planning the trip, and will keep this first post updated as to where we will be and when.

I think a trip out to Red Bluff, to pick up 36 to the coast, then a cruise to Ft Bragg to enjoy some of the North Coast Brewery's finest will be on the agenda. Continuing south to Skaggs Springs and perhaps a trip south? east? north? No plans from that point but a lot of open country.

Hope to see you there

Hrm, almost as bad as picking your username based on a bike you owned, is picking a username based on the state you live in.

Good luck on the move and the new location!

At the time I didn't figure on leaving.

28 degrees on the way in to work this AM on the way to a high of 36 for the first day of Spring. The fact it has been in the 80s with sunny skys and blooming trees back in Sacramento is not helping. Kill the groundhog...

Tom, the fact that you now live in PA...and like riding in CA...just gives you the opportunity to make those epic rides. Now that you make the big bucks, a little extra gas expense is all it is.

There is some beautiful country east of the Sierras, too.

Have a good time riding out there...those guys know how to throw out the welcome mat!

Would be nice to revisit Skagg Springs Rd...and the Trinity Alps area again....

It will be a good ride, and it's entirely possible I could be going through Marietta at an opportune time.

Since it's been 5-months without riding, I'll be glad to follow. Maybe you should take up smoking like Fairlaner so I can find you at the break stops.

The movers come 4/22 and 4/23. So I'm a free agent to travel starting 4/24 through May 12.

The weather has been a big challenge this year. Normal years, I can deal with cold and get out, but it's been nonstop winter since I arrived. I'll buy a season pass for skiing next year, and that should fix things.
