I have never needed a car before. I always used to ride my FJR everywhere. My wife and I have always had two cars though, one for her (Wagon Queen Family Truckster in metallic pea, aka Honda Odyssey van), and an emergency cage for when I needed to pick up the kidlets (a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am).

When I got this new job, I thought, hey, I'll go out and buy a really nice new car with the money. So I went looking at Lexus, BMW, Subaru, Volvo, etc. Then I realized, buying another new car wouldn't be the smartest option. So, I started looking at used cars. Again, not really a lot out there that would have made me happy. Then I looked at just keeping the Grand Am. That was most definitely not an option as it was never a car I enjoyed driving, it was just a car for emergency purposes and only got, at most 5,000 miles per year. That put me back in the market to replace the Grand Am since I will now be more in a cage than on the FJR.

After a bunch of looking at everything, I sorta decided to buy a "throw away" car. A car I will enjoy while I'm doing the job, but not really care if it lasts much longer than that. Then, while surfing Craigslist, I found what I was looking for:

A supercharged 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix Gt. This car has everything I need/want in a car (except awd), and the price was right - less than the price of a new FJR. Here are pictures of my new car. May not be much to look at (especially from the back), but it is a fun car to drive, has a kick *** stereo, dual climate control, heated leather seats, sun roof, traction control, every air bag conceivable, and a supercharged engine for some fun.

Though it isn't red, it's still a great ticket grabber. Oh, right, never mind....... :p

Completely off-topic, but Rad's comment reminds me of a time I saw a local city cop try a stop on an unmarked state cruiser. I was behind the city cop, the state cruiser went by us about 5 over, the local lit up and hit the gas, the trooper flashed once and kept on. Local stayed lit for about 5 seconds and knocked it off. I'm sure he hated that he had a civilian witness (me) for that.

As for the Poncho, I know that motor is strong, having driven a Grand Prix GTP a coworker used to have. All I'll say is I hope yours was built better than his. . . .
