Well I finally joined the ranks and bought a beautiful blue 2006 FJR1300A. I’ll be picking it up this Tuesday. Thanks to chornbe for letting me know about this gem sitting on the dealer floor in Delaware. Thanks to the rest of you psychopaths for emptying my wallet with all the farkle posts on here.

So far I’ve ordered Skyway’s frame sliders, OHFJR’s top box rack, Garauld’s Hella FF50 Driving Lights & Bracket Kit, a Heat Troller for my heated gear, and a Givi V46 and mount. I think I’ll be done blowing money for a while. At least now that I’m poor I’ll have plenty of time to put all this crap on the bike.

Here’s a pic for those of you who don’t know what a FJR looks like.

There was a good reason. ;) It's one of the 15 FJRs equipped with the French detuned engines mistakenly shipped to the USA earlier this year. :dribble:

Oh well, no big deal...I guess you'll just have to ride flat out to keep up with us, bro

Sheesh -- ordering farkles before you've even ridden it home? :D

Congrats. You'll love it.

FWIW, cheaper, tougher alternative to Givi mount and top-box:

That's a Pelican 1550 simply bolted to OHFJR's rack, using some SS hardware from Home Depot. The ulimate in protection for a laptop, camera gear, or what have you. A plain Pelican 1550 can be got for $85, but I sprang for a value added version with integrated lock and internal straps. No the lock doesn't match the FJR's key, but it does matches the locks on the three 1550's I have on my other bike:

Some of you will likely consider this sacrilege, but if there was a straightforward way to mount Pelican cases in place of the Feejer's stock hard bags, I would do so immediately. They would hold a few liters more and be a couple of inches narrower over all. Oh and did I mention those cases are *tough*? No worries about scratching them when you bash them into stuff at gas stations. Ask me how I know this? ;)

Congrats there ej.

That ride should atleast make it out to SD & back next year. Hope you and your wife like it...should be more comfy.

Whacha doin' with your old ride? You keepin it or selling it?

Good Job Ej!

Too bad its October - ride now and farkle in the snow.

Hey Uwe:

you might contact Garauld to see if he could whip up a set of brackets that would allow other cases to be hooked to the FJR attachment points; if he ever finishes with luggage racks that is.

Oh man... I would love for a way to quickly and easily be able to throw my Givi e41's on the Feej, without mounting a whole new mounging system.

That would really rock. That might be worth looking into...

We'll be heading out to SD for sure. Should make the trip much nicer.

I'm keeping the FZ for now. I'll see how much I ride it next summer and decide what I'll do with it at that point. Maybe I'll sell it and get a dual sport.

Actually, I kinda like the pelican cases. Never really thought of mounting them to an FJR.

Congratulations ! Powersports East is a decent dealer, are you gonna bring her back here for service ?

Now remember, get her hot before flogging !

Powersports East seemed decent although I have'nt dealt with them enough to really have an opinion. What service I have done will probably be at Martin Moto in Pottstown, PA. Powersports East is about an hour an a half drive for me, a little too far and Martins has been good to me in the past. I usually do all my own maintenance anyway so it's not really an issue.

I usually let em warm up before hitting it hard. Plus I'll be taking it easy on this bike at first. It's a significant increase in power and weight from anything I've had before.

Congrats my friend and welcome to the adrenaline pumping dark blue one. You won't regret it. PM. <>< :yahoo:
