y'all are sure a friendly bunch I get a better welcome from the HD guys.

'Cuz unlike the Harley boards we are actually out riding and not hanging around the computer wearing a black t-shirt with a wolf riding on an eagle riding on an indian on a horse.

In fact, shouldn't you be out riding your fine, fine new FJR instead of busting on us?

Welcome to the forum. I'm glad a little rain didn't keep you from riding the new bike. Sounds like the time my son and I picked up his new bike. Raining like crazy. Strong winds. My wife thought we were crazy, but we had a great time. Just had to be a bit careful with the new tires and the wet road. Makes that first time on the bike especially memorable. The good rainwear made it enjoyable. Ride safe. :glare:

Welcom Mr. Spook,

I bet a lot of the guys and gals were away from the computes for the last couple of days. I know I was. So good to hear your first experience with your new baby. " Treat her right and she'll be good to you. " Movie quote: anyone know from which movie? Hint. Jon Voight. No one will get this......................actual quote was "they'll be good to you"

I loved the ride report. Especially about your Dad. Getting on in years is he? I can relate. My folks, not me............yet.........someday, I'm sure.

You will only love the FJR more and more as time goes on. At least that's been the experience of most here. I still go out and look at her in the garage from time to time just to make me smile and chuckle. Then I sit on her and go VRoooooooooooooom. Oh my gosh, and I'm 52! The FJR helps me feel and act 20 years younger. Just an added benefit.

Anyway, glad you are on board. Look forward to reading more ride reports from you. Jesse

Welcome, just been off line for a day. Rode my 08 to work today, 70 mile round trip, hot and humid down here in the swamps, you have to watch for deer and alligators among other critters.

Damn global warming we had snow today.

Take the bike in for its 600 mile check tomorrow although it now has 700 miles.

No. If I had a brand-new FJR and there was snow, I would be looking for people to bust on too....

This is actually a pretty damned good forum. The tech info is top-notch and we have some real characters here who actually know ****.

Not one day of good riding weather since I got the bike last Wed. I have ridden every day but today and with snow it just wasn't safe.

Welcome Spooky! Hope you get some good weather soon. The AE is the NUTZ! Have you become one with it yet?

BTW, I noticed your first post was Sunday AM. The reason you didn't get any responses is that the last Sunday morning of every month is when TWN lets his keyboard cool off and has ***. The rest of us watch on webcam.

A response to your initial post within 1 hour and 21 minutes, on a weekday... might be a bit of a stretch for most of us! :D

Congrats on your new ride and welcome to the group! Sounds like you're putting your FJR through its paces, regardless of the weather! :drinks:

It is a very easy bike to become one with. I have found nothing worth nit picking about yet.

Belated welcome Spook!

I'll be in Custer 7/21-7/23...........hope the snow has stopped by then.

Damm, how about some chesse with that wine! I was out riding my FJR to Canyon Lake where I went Jetskiing and wake boarding all day, had a great seafood dinner then rode home in 78 degree weather for 30 miles of twistie mountain roads. Sorry I didnt have a chance to welcome you sooner. Welcome to the forum! B)

Guess I'll ignore your rant on post no. 2 and go straight to what I was going to say as I looked over no. 1: first, you're gutsy to load up a brand new bike with camping gear for a long trip in the rain. Think most guys start a little slower than that. Second, sympathy about the situation with your dad. Went through something similar just a while back. I walked into his place one day and he was sitting and staring at the bedroom wall. When I asked what he was doing, it turned out it was about 1955 and he was sitting on his Harley watching cars blowing the stop sign. Guess he was going to go chase them down in his easy chair. Well, you do what you can, don't you? Good luck. By the way, wish I got your mileage.

This is an annual trip and it was the bike or a cage since the Venture would have taken too much work. All little stuff but it added up to a thousand bucks a real good down payment on my new FJR. I will bet my mileage will drop some as it get broke in and I start to push it harder. I have been riding since 65 so not much worries me any more.

Hi Spook. Welcome aboard.

Those new FJRs have a mpg gauge? Sweet. Is it accurate? I understand the mpg gauge on the ST1300 is a bit suspect.

It does not look that far off but I want to run a few tanks through it and do some comparisons.

I was keeping track for the first 8 or 10 tanks of gas and my Avg MPG according to the gage was always accurate to within 1 MPG. I check it on occasion now and its still just as accurate.
