I read about this happening in the U.K. I can now confirm it in southern california. I'm really glad that yamaha will fix it, I just wish the dealer had the part! If anyone else has to deal with this, I suggest calling right away, to get the part ordered.

Even though my FJR is part of the recall, I am not sure I will have it replaced. It's been working fine for 90,000 miles. Why fix what ain't broke?

BTW, you did see the other threads on the recall around here, didn't you?

I got a phone call announcing the recall from the dealer here in Miami who sold the bike to the first owner. They had my contact info because I had the warranty transferred when I bought it.

I saw one thread on it, I'll look for others. The understand the warning about not riding the bike untill it gets fixed is a liability thing, but it still makes me nervous, which I don't like to be about my bike!

Ah, ahem... Me thinks it just might be suffering from a bad case of multiple fliposis. You're prolly gonna at least think about changing it. ;)

Speaking of multiple fliposis, I wonder how many fault code #61's have been racked up on this machine? :D

Oh, crap! I just remembered he's cooking me dinner next Saturday! Uh, skoot? Nevermind the above comments, buddy-old-pal-O-mine, k? :)

I don't mind the thread refresh. This is relevant. I got my recall notice in the mail today also.

My first reaction is if it ain't broken, don't take it in. I've had my '05 over 2 years now and I hit 20,000 miles today. And it runs perfect. Idles perfect, too. I adjusted the idle speed once; after doing the TBS it dropped a little.

If you trust your dealership and their mechanics and don't mind being without yer ride for a while then, sure, it couldn't hurt.

Capitol City Yamaha called me at work today, told me about the recall, and offered to make an appointment to bring it in for the service. They said it would be completed in one day. Nice touch.

my 05 non-abs #402(BlueJay) with 57k miles is under recall. Never had a seconds trouble with it. Runs like a stripped ape!, and has from the first mile. But, I am going to get it fixed and ride my AE(Flicker), (or my ST1100(Ole 97) or my KLR(

(BurroRojo) or one of my Yamaha XS 1100s and finally my Royal Star(RedBrute)(Ain't capitalism and 45 years of hard work and retirement nice??) YEP! :p

I haven't got a recall notice, but I not the original owner. However, DH got one for his Warrior and it listed my 03 FJR as being possibly affected. The language of the letter made me a bit nervous, but the bike seems to run just fine.

I'm going to call our local dealer (where the mechanic is a really great guy) tomorrow, and see what they say.

I recieved my notice today about the recall :( I have 17 K on my 05 that I bought this year . I have never had a problem with my bike even on the 5 K trip down to Vegas. But seeing how I cant ride my bike all winter ( not great in the snow ) I think I will try to get it fixed so not to interupt my summer riding.

Just got my notice on my '05. I'm in So Cal too. Wonder if the mailing timing is strictly regional?

Thanks for the feed back, everyone! Read as much as I could find, and thought about my latest rides. From other topics as well, I was going to try to do something about the play in the throttle. It seemed to be getting more pronounced. I also stalled on take-offs a couple times, which is human I know, but they were standard leaving a light no reason to stall deals. Hopefully I can get an improvement with the new unit!

You can't ride it right now anyway, may as well take it in... When you gonna be up an going again?

If you don't get it fixed and there is a problem, gravity is going to suck - More. <_<

Are the 06's part of the recall ??

Got my recall letter today, called the dealer, had to order the part; said he'd call me the end of next week. The letter said not to ride the bike. Since the problem would be a stall condition, at worse, I'll continue to ride.
