Anyone have any problems bringing it in if they were not the original owner. The original owner got one in the mail and will send it to me. Anyone done this or ran into any problems with the dealer?
Keith
Shouldn't be any problem at all. The Yamaha letter even instructs previous owners to contact the new owner of this required service.

WTF is this?

Prolly work better if the red bearded devils never touch it.

Incompetence or cheapniss? Sounds like supplier issue...so...

I never got anything in the mail. The *******s should have done it right the first time.

Haven't seen one yet myself. I called the dealer yesterday and read off the VIN to him. He checked the Yamaha Tech Bulletin and said my VIN was not in the included group.

Soooo, unless I get something in the mail from mama Yama then I'll just keep motoring.

Got mine last week, called the dealer, sadi they would need to order the parts, and would call me back.

They called on Monday, said they had the part and to bring it in Friday, I dropped it off Thursday as that was the only time I could get a ride home.

Then the numb nuts call me back and say they made a mistake, they don't have the part and I would need to leave the bike there for 3-5 while they order it.

Screw them, Pensacola Motorsports, I will take it elsewhere, this is the 3rd different Yamaha they have messed me around on with service items.

If it wasn't for the high turnover of Navy Personel at the local base in Pensacola, they wouldn't have any customers, I should have learned on the second screw up.

05AFRET,

I got my notice about a week and a half ago. I have an appointment tomorrow, Saturday.

I looked at the VINs affected, but mine didn't appear to be in the list. It was listed on the

notice as: XXXXXX0246, when in fact it should be listed as:

XXXXXXA246.

I really don't know if it makes a difference or not. I've got the notice, it came to my

house, I had the bike just quit on me once (no, NOT bad technique...I was sitting at

a stoplight and it just quit running. Very weird, but I read on here somewhere that one

of the symptoms of a bad TPS is a bike that just quits.)

Anyway, getting it done tomorrow on mama Yami's dime (Yay!). Does the dealer do

a throttle body synch after replacing the sensor? Just curious...

When I talked to the service guy here, he said that Yamaha would not let them order extra parts to keep on hand, that they had to order them on "as needed" basis.... he was a little miiffed about that, but said they do ship the parts quickly. He hadn't heard about the tick thing tho... said so far they havent' run into one. He also said that he goes on a few forums, but not this one. But he was going to check just in case a ticker did show up. Cleveland Akron Honda... pretty good peeps there, as least so far.

Hmmm, very curious. I still have nothing from mama yama. I know a lot of the folks here have gotten notices. I would think if I was affected that I would have seen something by now. I don't know about the throttle body synch after replacing the sensor but seems to me it would be a good idea while they have the bike torn apart.
