Well it has been a couple of weeks now since I decided to start wrenching on my new (to me) still under warranty bike!! After much research and reading, I decided to install the G2 throttle cam and unwind the Throttle return spring (TPS) to smooth out the ride. ( many thanks to all the people who posted all the detailed and helpful information on these mods, you know who you are). I decided to take the tank clean off to make it easier to work under there, and while I was under there I put the Yamaha Stock parts in to replace the French version intake gaskets between the Throttle body and the intake manifold. The French version is about 40% of surface area ! Wow!! What a difference in the bike. Third gear overtaking is SWEET! This bike RIPS!! I'm putting the Foggy ones back in this weekend though cuz the feul consumtion went up h34r:
Now here is the technical feed back: I found that I did not have to remove the T-bar to take off the heat shield on the GenII bike, it slides out towards the back with no problem, just need to help it back in with some needle nose pliers or such. I figure it's best not to mess with the frame unless you really have to. Other revelation doing this work, the air filter is a major PIA to get in and out. Oh yeah, taking pictures before you tear stuff apart is a really good idea in case you forget how it goes together.
Thanks again for all the helpful information on this forum, and I might add it swayed my decision when changing bikes to go for the FJR.
Cheers and FNG no longer??? :yahoo: :yahoo:
