As a very few of you already knew, I had "Minor" heart surgery this past Wednesday. I think "Minor" since they didn't have to crack my chest open, but could do the work by going through the arteries and veins in my groin.

Anyway, like I said that was on Wednesday. Yesterday, 4 days (96 hours) after the surgery, I was back out on the FJR. I am amazed at how little pain there was through this ordeal. I road the bike to work today, and other than on the really bumpy parts, felt 100%.

To me, this is just amazing.

P.S. If you thought by reading the title of this thread that you were going to see the latest in silicone "Enhancements," I'm sorry to disappoint you.

Actually, it was having an extra pathway on my heart cauterized. I suppose you are correct that it isn't "surgery," but to me when they are talking about burning **** off my heart by going up through my femoral artery, and that the chances of problems were only about 1 in 200, it is close enough for me.

By the way, as an English major, this ' is not a quotation mark. This is "

Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome.

An extra electrical pathway that is leftover from during the development of the heart. This would cause my heart to race at approx. 180 beats per minute. I would wake up in the middle of the night, and feel like I just sprinted a 5K. I had had the condition for several years, but it started getting more frequent and severe in the last few months, so I decided it was time to get it taken care of.

My heart does that sometimes. Last one lasted over an hour, scared the crap outa me. Glad they could address yours. Best of health to you!

Scab,

W.P.W. is not really uncommon. I think I heard something like 1/2000. You family doc should be able to do an EKG, and see if there are signs. A big reason I had the procedure done was that I had an "Episode" a few months ago that was REALLY bad. Like you said, scared the crap out of me. Anyway, there are some meds that can help in about 20% of people, otherwise it's time to hit the table. Now that it is all said and done, I wish I would have had the problem fixed sooner. Having your heart racing for no good reason is both scary, and a pain in the ass. I had episodes that lasted anywhere from 5 minutes, to 6 or 7 hours. NOT FUN.

And if you are really going for your English Major, your sentence would read:

"I rode the bike to work today" Now, you could say: "I rode the bike on the road to Rhode Island" if you want to get a lot of 'roading' in.

BTW - really glad that the surgery went so well :)

It amazes me how we have become good at some procedures and I'm really glad that you had something that was treated with so few problems. It can go either way with surgery and you are correct to treat it with gravity. Gravity sucks. Just ask Skoot.

If they were good, they'd a done it while you were riding. I'm not impressed. And where is the ****age the title suggested? Hmmmmm?

That's what sex does to ya, scabby, though as rarely as it probably occurs for you, I can understand the fear. An hour, you are da man!!!! :p

You are correct Sir. If I was really good, I would have rode the bike down the road to get some seashells by the sea shore. :dribble:

They checked for that. Not it. They can't figure it out.

Yeah, yeah, that was it. Just don't tell the wife. I was at work at the time.

For what it's worth, I have had at least 5 EKG's prior to this, and it had been missed on every one.

Well, that is worth knowing. Perhaps it too early for me to discount.
