My wife has come to really like the Zumo 550 when we put it in the car. She is looking for something similar for her bicycle. I did a quick Google search on bike gps units, but that's not what she wants. She wants a screen similar to the Zumo 550, but on a device that has at least a 5 hour battery and isn't that expensive.

She doesn't ride her bike in the rain, so waterproof isn't a necessity.

Any ideas?

Have you tried popping down to your local specialist store and asking them? I was eyeing off some stuff at REI and found a GPS suited to me. I then jumped on PriceGrabber (www.pricegrabber.com) and found the same model for $150 cheaper online. Still contemplating whether I'm willing to hand over so much money so soon, but the general idea should work.

Good luck with the 5 hours of battery life and not being that expensive, I didn't find anything like that when I first had a glance. But maybe that sort of action plan will get you not only something affordable but what your wife wants (and some major brownie points!)

Here you go, check these out. I've ordered from these folks and have never had a problem. https://www.coloradocyclist.com/product/display/55100/

I would try two options for a bike:

Option 1

Awesome deal this week (If price is more of a concern)

$99.99 out the door since you're in the land of no tax

Bestbuy has the Garmin Nuvi 200 on sale for $149.99

1. Sign up for a free rewards card if you don't have one

2. $50 coupon

YMMV/Things to note

*These may sell out if they have not already

*The sale price ends this Saturday

*Some Best Buy's may try to tell you, you can't use a coupon on a sale item (BS)

Option 2

I prefer my etrex series Garmin over the nuvi (I'm on my 4th etrex now, only owned the nuvi for a few days)

-Not 4th as it is a worthless POS and keeps breaking, I keep upgrading to newer/better models-

My latest etrex is the Vista Hcx from ebay $205 shipped (using a 10% off paypal coupon which expired 6/30 -sorry)

Since you're in OR (I would use Amazon) sales tax in WA killed the Amazon option for me

The Amazon search I linked to above should show you many etrex models and bike mounts.

I use it as a backup in the car, geocaching, hiking, camping, biking, traveling to unfamiliar cities (US / Europe / etc...)

Battery life on my etrex is 12-15 hours on average

I've even used the etrex on my FJR for over a year (completely waterproof GPS) before I upgraded to a Garmin 2730 with XM

I used this mount from cyclegadgets which would also work great on a bike.

Hope that helps
